Twin County Leadership Initiative

Each year, Wytheville Community College, Crossroads Institute, The Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, and The Twin County Chamber of Commerce host the Twin County Leadership Initiative.

The class is comprised of aspiring young leaders from area businesses such as Twin County Regional Hospital, MedFit, and others. A few select high school students were also nominated to participate in the five week series of classes. This year, Shayla Cabrera and Nicole Fergerson represented Galax High School.

On Tuesday, April 24, 2018 the students participated in their final class and in the graduation celebration. The final class was comprised of a panel discussion about leadership and experiences from the field. Galax City Schools Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Rebecca Cardwell, Carroll County Sherriff JB Gardner, and General District Court Judge J.D. Bolt discussed with students their experiences on leadership from their different fields.
