114.jpg

Mrs. Parks grew up in the twin county area and graduated from Independence High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Early/Middle Education from Radford University in 1990. She taught Eighth Grade English and Art 8 at Independence Middle School for ten years. In 2000, she began her teaching career at Galax Middle School as the art teacher. Two years later, she became the Sixth Grade Language Arts teacher.

Mrs. Parks is a strong believer in lifelong learning. Over the years, she has earned her Master of Art in Education degree in Reading from Emory & Henry College and has completed additional coursework at Radford University, earning her the Administration K-12 endorsement. She also holds endorsements in middle school social studies, middle school math, and Algebra I.

When she is not in school, she enjoys spending time hiking and traveling with her husband, Marty, and two sons, Trevor and Graham.
