Mrs. Kristen Quesenberry, Assistant Principal Galax Elementary

Hello!  I extend to you a warm welcome to Galax Elementary School where our vision is, “My best for our success!”.  I would like to introduce myself, offer my background in education, and express my commitment to this district.  I am Kristen Quesenberry, Assistant Principal at GES. Native to Carroll County, I maintain a rich appreciation for this area including its history, its mountainous landscape and natural beauty, and the genuine people who reside in this community!  It is no mistake that my husband and I chose to raise our two children right here and we will forever call this place “home”.

I am a 1998 graduate of Carroll County High School and attended Emory & Henry College where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2001.  Upon graduation, I pursued a career in education with endorsements in Business Education and Mathematics. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching and sharing my love for mathematics with the students of Carroll County High for thirteen years.  During this time and in consideration of my commitment to being a lifelong learner, I further explored education and the area of mathematics at the University of Virginia and in 2009, I graduated with a Master of Education and a K-8 Mathematics Specialist endorsement.  Then in 2014, I graduated from Radford University with a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and it was at that time that I transitioned from classroom teacher to Assistant Principal at Carroll County High School.

I am more than excited to join Galax City Public Schools this year!  I find so much truth to, “It takes a village to raise a child” and I look forward to partnering with Mrs. Boyles, GES faculty and staff, the Galax community, as well as the students and families of GES to support our youth along their educational journey.  My focus and commitment is to provide GCPS with leadership that (1) promotes a safe and orderly environment conducive for learning, (2) partners with community members and organizations to enhance the educational experience for all, and (3) offers consistency in making fair, legal, and ethical decisions that supports students and teachers in reaching academic and professional goals.
