Mrs. Theresa Mawyer

284.jpg

Mrs. Mawyer, born in Portsmouth, VA, spent her growing up years in Florida.  Her dad was a career Navy man so her family moved around a lot.  When he retired the family moved to this area where she graduated from Carroll County High School.  Here she met her husband Barry, who had made the Air Force his career and began travelling again.  She has lived in Texas, Maryland, Florida, Georgia, Bermuda, Alaska, Germany, as well as Virginia.  In 1994 she moved back to Galax with her family.  Both her parents and husband are from this area so she has always considered Galax "home."

Mrs. Mawyer attended Wytheville Community College where she received an Associates in Early Childhood Development.  She enjoys reading, movies, and camping.  She started working at GES in 1999 as a Kindergarten Aide and has been involved with the PALS Program since the Fall of 2000.

"I loved the military life and am blessed by the many opportunities it provided.  During my travels I was able to work with children of all ages, in many different capacities. I am thankful to be a small part of shaping tomorrow's future through today's children."
