Marc Quesenberry - Galax High School Principal

200 Maroon Tide Drive, , , 24333

Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting the Galax City Public Schools web site. Let me first say how excited I am to be returning to Galax High School. As a graduate of GHS (’79), it is my honor to be back to serve this great school system, the community and, most importantly, the students of Galax. As I enter my 34th year in public education I can say, without hesitation, that I have never been this enthused about the upcoming school year.

Upon graduation from Galax High School, I earned my Bachelors of Business Administration in 1983 from East Tennessee State University. In 1985 I began my teaching career, as a high school mathematics teacher, for Carroll County Public Schools. From there I continued my teaching career with stops in Smyth County, Washington County, Cocke County, TN, and Gordon County, GA. During my years in Georgia I earned a Masters and a Specialists of Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University and it was during this time that I transitioned from the classroom to school administration. In 2011 I returned to the Carroll County School System where I have been a principal for the past seven years.

As a life-long Maroon Tide, I have always believed that Galax City Public Schools is the greatest school system there is. It will be our commitment, from GHS to all stakeholders, that we will give you our best every day for every student to continue being the best.

We are THE Galax Maroon Tide!
